How Many will Benefit?

I read in the Chief that VP Maurice Jenkins is pushing for the Rank and File to give up $10 bi-weekly in support of healthcare (COBRA) for those laid off.

Chairman from other departments are pushing that we support the $10 bi-weekly donation.

The Exec. Board voted to bring this to the membership for a vote. Everyone elected is voicing that this should be passed.

I find it odd that they are leaving out a KEY fact. You must be in Good Standing to benefit from this. Of the 266 members laid off in Station, the Div. Chair stated at June's Div. Meeting that over 100 of them were in bad standing.

What are the numbers in other departments?

HOW MANY WILL BENEFIT from this fund that’s being set up, or should we ask WHO WILL BENEFIT from this?

According to the Constitution only those in good standing can benefit from the $10 contributed by all of the members (good and bad standing).

Before you vote on this, they need to inform us of:

How many will be benefit from this?

Approx. how much will be collected?

Who will be in charge of this fund?

Oh, it was also quoted that this only amounts to lunch for a week. Can someone please tell me who spends only $10 a week on lunch?

If Charlie Jenkins stayed at the hall and not on a plane for a change the union coulda afford the cobra on It's own! No conference in the world could help his sad vocabulary John

I bet the great trade unionist,Charlie Jenkins doesn't tell the people at these conferences how he used to rip union notices off bulletin boards the last few years up till this year, what a great working class hero.HEY,of course, this year there's been no flyers.

How many folks have been layed-off?Does the High Exalted Mystic Ruler, even know?Iheard Signal Maintainers were layed off about a week and a half ago.Idid not hear about in the media and that is the way we find out about these things. So have there been more non publicized bunches of layoffs across the Local?

There's a new video of Samuelson on the union's website and I received an e-mail from the Local of Paul Piazzi,an Exacutive Board Member from Stations both pushing for a yes vote.In Piazzi's statement he's saying he's clearing up any misinformation that's out there.I found it curious that in neither thing was it mentioned that the fund would only be for Members in GOOD STANDING.

I also received the e-mail of Paul Piazza's statement and I read where he said he was going to speak on what some unethical people have been saying.I thought for a second or two he was in a self-critical mode that someone from t.b.o.u. was going to criticize all the garbage they've done to Local 100 the past several years. But,of course no ,that would be a t.b.o.u. person being ethical.Just read The Party of No article on this blog.A t.b.o.u. person preaching about ethics Piazza has some Goddamned nerve.

I got the e-mail of Piazza and he's saying this stuff''democracy this, democracy that '',we won't have a revote if it doesn't go the yes way, blah, blah, blah .Then I went to the union's today when the voting is supposed to end this morning, but now I see the voting is extended to 10 p.m., I Believe this reason is b.s.,probably the real reason is it's not tallying up the way they want so they're hitting everybody up today to vote how they want. Today they have to scramble for votes, they wouldn't have to do that if they'd been out in the field the last six months acting like a union If this is true what a b.s. artist Piazza's is and I believe as another commentator said he's got some nerve preaching on ethics.

Some of Samuelson's crowd came to my Quarters to push for a yes vote. This is the first time the Administration made an appearance at our location. When they were asked why did the layoffs happen, why wasn't there a fight put up against the layoffs, their answer was it's all Toussaint's fault,Toussaint gave up the no layoff clause. This did not go over too well with some of us because we know the no layoff clause was a sham. Some of us feel while we would want such a fund set up for it could be us in the shoes of being layed off members but why can't we get some honesty and straightforwardness from Samuelson and company. This brings me to the points I want to raise-not a single dime should go for paying medical for any non-Good Standing layed off members, and 100% of the fund should go to what it's supposed to be for paying for cobra for good standing layed off members. If it's found out these two things are not adhered to we should and will raise bloody hell and be fully justified in doing so.Thank God for this blog keep putting out the truth. a trackworker
